Matt Abbott

Matt Abbott started playing golf at the age of 8 and he quickly fell in love with the sport. Matt played golf and hockey throughout high school and even worked part-time as a bag boy at a golf course in his hometown of Endwell, New York. His skills developed as rapidly as his passion for the game, which earned him a golf scholarship at Penn State University. “I competed very well on the collegiate level and it was around my junior year that I realized I might have the talent to go pro,” Matt recalls. “It was then that golf turned from a game I really enjoyed into a full-time pursuit that would test every ounce of my personal drive and dedication.”

Driven by a Dream

Matt worked harder than ever after that, grinding it out on lower level professional tours and earning just enough money to pay the travel expenses for wherever the next tournament was to be held. He played in a number of Nationwide Tour (now the Web.com Tour) events. And though he won several tournaments and was close several times at Q-School, he never quite made the cut to earn his PGA Tour card. But rather than deter Matt, the experience helped him refocus his priorities. You see, during this time, he had also met and married his wife, Nicole, and they set their roots down here in Jupiter like so many other pro golfers. At some point, he had to decide if he wanted to continue chasing his golf dreams or follow a new dream—that of a family man.

Matt chose the latter and he hasn’t looked back. He loved golf, but he loved Nicole even more. And once they had their sons, Liam and Luke, Matt realized it was the best choice he had ever made in life. As a way to supplement his income while on tour, he had already earned his real estate license and was working part-time in the Northern Palm Beach County market. Upon retiring from professional golf, the transition into full-time real estate sales was an easy one for Matt. Turns out he’s a natural in this business thanks to his dedicated approach, driven personality and love for helping people.

With a young family of his own, he understands how important the concept of “home” is to the people he works with every day and that drives him to be his best.
